Academy Manhwa Recommendation part 2

The Player Hides His Past (플레이어가 과거를 숨김, Peulreioga Gwagoreul Sumgim) is a Korean manhwa that mixes fantasy, action, adventure, and comedy into a story that is both funny and exciting. Badass (베데스) wrote the story as a web novel, and then Gaechaban (개차반) turned it into manhwa. Vinukki did the amazing illustrations, and Doglike Room did the bright colors. It came out on Naver Webtoon in 2023 and has become popular for its unique world-building, intense battles, and over-the-top humor. The manhwa is about Lee Hoyeol, a normal office worker who suddenly finds himself stuck in a world where the popular VR game History of the Arcana Continent, also known as Chronicles of Arcana, has come to life. Most protagonists come back to life as strong heroes or noble figures, but Hoyeol has to become his embarrassing middle school "original character," Grandfell Claudi Arpeus Romeo. This character is a dramatic and eccentric Demon Hunter with flashy speech and behavior. To the reader, he may seem silly, but the world sees him as a mysterious and noble hero because he can back up his grandiose words with real strength.

As monsters from other dimensions start to come into reality through rifts, only people who have played the game and learned how to use their powers can protect humanity. Hoyeol, who is now Grandfell, is one of the few players who can fight the chaos in a unique way. His persona is based on embarrassing fantasies from his childhood, but his unwavering pride, strict adherence to etiquette, and boldness in speech make him an unexpectedly charming person. He seems silly on the outside, but he is very determined on the inside. As the last Demon Hunter, he has a duty that he can't avoid. The manhwa stands out from other fantasy-action titles because it combines cringe comedy with real heroism. Readers often find Grandfell's over-the-top personality funny, and they also like how deep the world-building is, where comedy and high stakes go hand in hand.

The Player Hides His Past is more than just an action movie; it teaches you important things about who you are, how to love yourself, and how to become a better person. The story shows how people make up fake identities to deal with the world. Some of these identities are embarrassing and some are over-the-top. Hoyeol's transformation into Grandfell exemplifies this. These personas may stem from youthful mistakes, ambitions, or insecurities; however, the narrative suggests that rather than rejecting them in shame, acceptance can cultivate resilience and growth. Grandfell's "cringe" character makes people laugh, but for Hoyeol, it also gives him strength, discipline, and determination to get through hard times. This is true for everyone: the parts of ourselves that we think are silly or embarrassing are still a part of who we are, and accepting them can turn our flaws into strengths we didn't expect.

The manhwa also teaches us that not all heroes are noble. In a lot of fantasy stories, heroes are shown to be graceful, noble, or just naturally charming. In The Player Hides His Past, on the other hand, the hero is a man in a stiff suit who talks in old-fashioned language and acts very seriously. Even so, his determination and ability to stay true to his role motivate others. The story shows that greatness can come from unexpected places, and being real, even if it seems strange or awkward, can have a bigger impact than a polished image. Grandfell's oddness doesn't make him less interesting; in fact, it makes him more interesting because he stays true to himself and doesn't break character. This shows that being confident in yourself can turn mockery into respect.

In short, The Player Hides His Past is more than just another action-packed manhwa; it has a lot of depth and combines humor with important lessons. Badass wrote it, and Gaechaban, Vinukki, and Doglike Room brought it to life visually. It has battles, magic, and fantasy world-building, and it also makes you think about how to accept yourself and keep going. The manhwa shows us that our past selves, no matter how embarrassing, are not things to be ashamed of but are parts of who we are. We can find strength we didn't know we had and even become the heroes of our own lives by accepting these parts of ourselves. In the end, Lee Hoyeol's journey as Grandfell Claudi Arpeus Romeo reminds us that even the most awkward versions of ourselves can make a future full of strength, bravery, and honesty.
